(hennemusic) Metallica met and jammed with actor Joseph Quinn from the Netflix series, “Stranger Things”, prior to their headlining performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL on July 28.

The actor’s character, Eddie Munson, shreds “Master Of Puppets” on his Warlock guitar in the show’s “Upside Down” alternate universe during an attempt to help his friends vanquish a demon named Vecna.

The new profile of the track due to its exposure in the program recently saw the 1986 classic enter the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the first time in the song’s history.

Metallica can be seen raving about the series prior to Quinn in newly-released video of the backstage meeting and jam from the event. Watch the backstage video from Lollapalooza here.

Quavo and Takeoff continue Migos breakup rumours with new Offset-free single ‘Us Vs. Them’

Quavo and Takeoff have added more weight to the rumours that Migos are no longer active, sharing a new joint single titled ‘Us Vs. Them’.

It comes as their second collaborative release for the year, following the May release of ‘Hotel Lobby’ (which they dropped under the moniker Unc And Phew). The new cut arrives under the two rappers’ usual stage names, and features a guest appearance from Gucci Mane.

Check out the accompanying music video for ‘Us Vs. Them’, directed by Keemotion, below:

Landing alongside ‘Us Vs. Them’ was the news that Quavo and Takeoff would perform a show as Migos without Offset in tow. The group were recently announced as a headline act for this year’s National Battle Of The Bands in Houston, however a flier for the event – scheduled for Saturday August 27 – only showed images of Quavo and Takeoff.

Rumours of Migos’ breakup started swirling shortly after the release of ‘Hotel Lobby’, when it was reported that Offset had unfollowed both of his bandmates on Instagram. Less than a month later, in June, Migos pulled out of their scheduled performance at the 2022 Governors Ball festival, with organisers for the event saying they would no longer appear “due to circumstances out of [their] control”.

At the time, a representative for Migos stated that despite the cancellation they were still a group, with TMZ reporting that the reason for their withdrawal from the lineup was due to Quavo being busy filming a movie, and being unable to work around the scheduling conflict.

In June, Quavo and Offset performed as Migos as part of the Summer Smash 2022 festival in Chicago, performing multiple tracks (including ‘Hotel Lobby’) without their bandmate present.

Migos’ most recent album together was last year’s ‘Culture III’. In a four-star review, NME said the record saw Migos “successfully pick up from where they left off” with ‘Culture II’, and that “the latest chapter in the trio’s career certainly seems unlikely to be overlooked by the masses who have embraced the group for the best part of a decade”.

(SRO) Nothing More have released an extended version of their current hit single called “Tired Of Winning / Ships In The Night” and they have also announced their very first graphic novel.

The extended track will be featured on their forthcoming album “Spirits”, which is due October 14th and will also be featured on the official soundtrack for the upcoming Better Noise Films horror-thriller movie “The Retaliators” that will be hitting theaters worldwide on September 14th.

“The Retaliators – Official Soundtrack” will be released via Better Noise Music on September 16 and will also include tracks from labelmates including Motley Crue, Tommy Lee, Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch and more.

In other news, the band has partnered with Z2 Comics (The Doors, Machine Gun Kelly, The Grateful Dead) to release their first-ever graphic novel “SPIRITS VOL.1” authored by Dan Watters (Cowboy Bebop, Arkham City: The Order of The World) and illustrated by Christian Rosado.

The graphic novel will be released in Spring 2023 and be available in a standard edition hardcover, a deluxe edition oversized hardcover, a limited deluxe edition oversized hardcover hand-signed by band (999 copies total) and a special tour-only softcover only available for purchase in-person at Nothing More shows or directly via their website.

Guitarist Mark Vollelunga shares how the idea for a graphic novel developed:
“I set forth on this collaboration with Z2 comics, and our manager, Will Hoffman, with the idea to expand the Nothing More world and allow the reader to dive deeper down the rabbit hole and elaborate on what these Spirit Types mean; where they came from and why they exist.

“We wanted to write stories that invoke a compelling sense of empathy and wonder while maintaining a very personal connection to Nothing More songs. Dan Watters was the perfect dude for the job. He’s such a brilliant, captivating writer. Both of us shared inspiration from shows like The OA and Sense 8 and we wanted to accentuate the differences all people have when something in your life wrecks you…and that even though these differences may seem polarizing, we all still need each other.

“It’s because of these differences that you learn to survive and grow. This story shows that great strength and mutual respect come to those who learn how to embrace one another despite such differences.” Stream “Tired Of Winning / Ships In The Night” below:

Lil Durk recovering after being blasted with pyrotechnic during Lollapalooza set

Lil Durk will taking a brief hiatus to “focus on [his] health”, he’s announced, after an incident that occurred during his Lollapalooza 2022 set left him injured.

The rapper was midway through his verse on the Pooh Shiesty joint ‘Back In Blood’ when he inadvertently walked into a pyrotechnic cannon, taking two explosive blasts of smoke directly to the face. The song was immediately stopped as Durk stumbled backwards, holding his face in his hands as crew members rushed to his aide.

Page Six reports that Durk nevertheless continued his performance, declaring after a brief pause: “Fuck it, no more smoke, let’s do it.” Have a look at footage of the incident below:

Durk has now updated fans on his recovery, posting a photo of himself sitting on a hospital bed with a patch covering his right eye. “Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break [and] focus on my health,” he wrote in the caption, noting: “I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all.”

It’s not yet clear whether Durk plans to postpone or cancel any of his upcoming tour dates – the rapper is scheduled to perform a headline show in Boston on Saturday August 13, before kicking of his ‘7220 Deluxe’ tour in mid-September. Tickets and full details for those shows can be found here.

Last month, Durk made headlines for another festival appearance, bringing Kanye West out as a special guest during his set at Rolling Loud Miami. West had been locked in to headline the event until just a few days prior, when he inexplicably cancelled his appearance. Despite that, West turned up for Durk’s set and joined him in performing their recent Cardi B collaboration ‘Hot Shit’

Monster Truck have created a Kid World for the music video for their new single “Get My Things and Go” that was directed and edited by Dave Lawrence, best known as the creator and star of FUBAR, and produced by Immanuela Lawrence.

Lawrence had this to say about the video, “We loved the idea of a ‘Kid World’. So we tried to follow the narrative of the song in a world solely populated by kids acting and dressing like adults.

“In ‘Kid World’, no adults exist except on “MonsterTube” which is populated with fun YouTube style videos kids love to watch made by the band. They play immature adults making a ton of easy money off “MonsterTube” to contrast with the working class struggles in ‘Kid World’. I really love how it all came together.”

Jon Harvey shared, “Working with Dave Lawrence has long been a dream of ours. He’s so effortlessly funny and creative, it’s always been inspiring to us. Dave brings a really amazing feeling of almost innocence to his projects even though the subject matter may be shot-gunning beers and smashing sh*t.

“We’d wanted to do a video starring kids, but playing adults, since our second record in 2016, and the whimsical, storybook nature of the lyrics to ‘Get My Things And Go’ were the perfect match for this bizarro world concept. The end result speaks for itself.” Watch the video below:
